What to Prepare for Auditions
Auditions provide an opportunity for you to showcase your theatre interests and talents. We want to get to know you and see you succeed! The audition for a Musical will have three parts to it: singing, dancing, and a line reading. Please read on for more information about how to prepare. And remember to have fun!
Please indicate any special talents on your audition form including but not limited to formal dance training, gymnastic skills, or musical instrument proficiencies.
1) Please prepare a MUSIC SELECTION.
Song that all must sing:
Dance music for Audition - steps will be instructed at Prep Session:
Please prepare a song (or two) from the list below that best showcases your voice and demonstrates a connection to the character that you are auditioning for. Click on the links below for the sheet music. Please be prepared to sing along with accompaniment tracks.
2) Be prepared to read lines from designated sections of the script.
If you attend the Audition Prep session, you will receive the pages of the script in which you may be called to read. You could be asked to read for any part on those selected pages, so prepare all characters! If you did not attend Audition Prep, you will receive the script page when you arrive for your audition so please be familiar with the Beauty & the Beast characters.
3) Come ready to dance! Dress for movement, wearing clothing and shoes that allow you to comfortably and safely move (dance shoes are not needed – sneakers are preferred.). The choreography pieces for auditions will be instructed at the Audition Prep session, so if you do not attend expect to watch the groups first and then do your best! Type your paragraph here.
Audition day and time will be assigned after the PREP session.
